LIFE IN THE FAST LANE: Keegan Pickering will have her first taste of life in the fast lane this weekend when she mixes it with the big boys at Phillip Island.
The Abedare 15-year-old will compete in a round of the 2014 Motorcycle Road Race Development Association, which runs in conjunction with the Superbike World Championship opener.
Former Moto GP, World Superbike rider and 2003 World Supersport champion Chris Vermeulen has been an MRRDA ambassador for several years and said he was excited to see MRRDA riders on the Phillip Island track.
“As an MRRDA ambassador it makes me feel extra proud to see these young kids at the 2014 WSBK round here in Phillip Island,” hesaid.
“Being present on the world stage, will offer them a chance to show what they have got as a rider and to promote that they are ready to compete in the top level of the sport.”
Pickering, a nine-time podium finisher on dirt track last year at national, state and local levels, will attend the official launch of the MRRDA at 2.15pm today.
She will continue her conversion to road racing until May with a series round held each month in Queensland, South Australia and Victoria respectively.
