Giveaways galore at Sunday trots
THIS Sunday afternoon’s trots meeting at the Wallsend Paceway has a Family Hawaiian theme.
Come along in your boardies and lairy shirts and join the fun.
In keeping with the family theme the club is this week once again giving away a bike and also a selection of sporting goods after the second last event.
As there was no one who drew the Kalbarri holiday at the last meeting, the Chocolate Wheel will feature two draws for this week’s holiday for the family at Kalbarri Beach Resort.
Also, three other prizes will be given away to the lucky spinners of the Chocolate Wheel.
No lucky punter selected the winners of the four races in the tipping competition a fortnight ago so this week’s prize jackpots to a $150 voucher on the tote.
While the Punter’s Club was only marginally successful at the last meeting, the punter has good local form on which to make his selections this time and should break into a profitable return.
A seven-event program looks like being held with the first race being the SportF1rst handicap.
Locally-trained Interceptor will come off the back mark of 20 metres and will be hard to beat after two runs for club president Brian Wheeler.
Another locally-trained pacer in Whatashambles ran a great race in the King Coal Cup for Bianca Ashcroft and will appreciate a front line draw and will be right in the finish.
Skewsy Newsy led all the way two weeks ago and with another front line draw in the C1+ event she will be hard to toss again over the 2050 metre journey.
Despite meeting a better class field, one of the best bets on the program is likely to be Bashful Compton who will be looking for his third win in a row since joining the David Hunter stable for the Dark Horse Syndicate.
The Wallrodt stables again will have seven runners going around and they have a great advantage on their home track, while other local trainers with representatives include Peter Strike, Tex Flynn, Errol Ashcroft and David Hunter, while local reinsmen Trent Wheeler, Cody Wallrodt and Jack Justins all have a number of drives.
The weather looks like being fairly warm so the club’s purchase of two spray fans to give a cooling mist over patrons will undoubtedly be greatly appreciated.
