Greta lad off to speedway world cup
Jimmy Jones is a rider on the rise.
The 14-year-old is bound for Italy later this year after gaining a place in the FIM Speedway 250cc World Youth Cup.
Jones is one of four Australians on the team and it follows a stellar showing at last month’s national titles.
The Greta lad nabbed a bronze medal at the 2014 AustralianUnder-16 250cc Solo Speedway Championships at Gillman.

It was the second time the Kurri Cobras club member had clinched a podium finish at the South Australian track in as many months.
He scored a silver medal at 350cc under-16 class at the South Australian Solo Championships in December.
This was part of a whirlwind period of racing for the Rutherford High School student, who clocked up thousands of kilometres travelling around the state competing in the lead-up to Christmas.
The FIM Speedway 250cc World Youth Cup will be held in the Italian city of Badia Calavena in August and takes Jones one step closer to his dream of one day racing in England or Poland, from where part of his family originates.
Jones will use the Coalfields Classic Motorcycle Show at Greta’s Tattersall’s Hotel on March 16 as a fund-raiser for his trip.
