LETTER: Kemp Street cash cow milked
I HAVE also fallen victim to the Kemp Street revenue-raiser (‘‘Change to road rules sneak in’’ Letters 17/2).
I have been turning right from Stewart Avenue into Kemp Street several times a week for decades.
I was completely unaware of the new signage and cannot believe the sign has been there since mid-December.
As Monday’s letter writer says, the police officer that booked them had at least 30 other offenders on his list before 9am.
I was booked at 7.30am the following day and the officer had at least 10 to 15 victims already.
Another three victims were pulled over while I was being booked.
Not bad at $236 a pop.
Clearly the signage is ineffective and the lack of notification to the public a disgrace.
In addition it appears that this much-valued public thoroughfare is only restricted to the public from 7am to 9am due to complaints from the NIMBY residents of Kemp Street.
Either block it off or leave it alone. Stop using motorists as cash cows.
